Why Paris stuck with us
We’d been to Paris before as a couple, but this trip was special with our boys. We used a connection through Paris as an excuse to stay in the city for a few days and immerse ourselves in the lively, rich French culture.
Staying in a rented home where the Eiffel Tower filled the sky when you leaned out the window and poked your head out was unforgettable.
Strolls down busy streets, coffees, and a cruise down the Seine were some of the things that filled our days. We built memories, for sure, around food, fashion, and strolling.
Getting there and getting around
We flew into Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport and took a van taxi from there directly to our rented apartment, about 45 minutes away. From there we walked and took taxis where we needed to go, apart from the memorable evening boat cruise we took.
A sample rhythm, not a rigid itinerary
Day 1: Get settled in and explore the bustling city around the tower. Make a dinner reservation with a view and make it a special evening.
Day 2: Explore another neighborhood. Take a stroll to the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe, shop a little, and of course eat the French food. Don’t forget to head up the hill to explore Sacré-Cœur and the rest of Montmartre.
Day 3: Shop, relax in a café, explore. Catch a flight to the next destination.
Family notes
Paris was great with kids as long as we kept in mind that we were there to experience the culture. We didn’t push ourselves to see it all. We’ll be back, Paris!
